| A Defence Review in South Africa has decided to change the titles of various units in the South African National Defence Force. One of the units involved in this change is the Natal Carbineers, please see the following to discover the unit’s new designation, the choice might surprise you: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]JY |

| Hi John,
The Brits also change names! Who would have thought that the 2nd Warwickshire Regiment would be today The Royal Welsh. I like the new name for the Natal Field Artillery - King Cetshwayo Artillery Regiment (KCAR). Are not they armed with assegais and shields? |

| According to a Google translation of 'ingobamakhosi, the adjective now appended to the 'Natal' Carbineers, means 'they are kings'. If that is correct, I am happy considering the new names of some other regiments.

| Brett,
I believe the translation is The Benders of the Kings, the name of King Cetshwayo’s ibutho which fought at the Battle of iSandlwana. What pathos.

Thank you. In the context of the New South Africa that makes more sense.

| I think some of the cap badges of newly designated units could prove to be interesting.

| Looks like they might have become Chief Langalibalele Rifles. Would that be pathos or justice being served?
