| I recently purchased and read Col. Henry Harford's Zulu War Journal edited by Daphne Child (1978).
Great read by the way.
In the notes section is the following "...I have taken the liberty of omitting the two final paragraphs of his manuscript, which were irrelevant to the story he was telling".
The last entry in Child's edition deals with the final fate of Cetshwayo.
Anyone have a different edition or know what was in the missing two final paragraphs from his journal?
Thanks,
Vince

| Hi Vince I have a number of prints of Childs book, they all carry the same note. However, lay your hands on 'Harford' by David and Emma Payne. That may help. Its a damn good book.

| Thanks for the sources. I assume the other books contain much the same material as Childs book.
If someone has a copy of the Payne version, could you let me know what is in the missing two paragraphs?

| Vince There is so much more in the Payne book, its virtually impossible just to try and lift a couple of paragraphs. After the paragraph concerning Lady Robinson in the Child book, which effectivly ends that manuscript, there are a further 100 plus pages added in the Payne book. |

| Thank you very much for the additional information. From Childs writeup, I was under the impression there was only a small amount of information missing. I now understand that this is quite a bit more that was not included.
I'll be on the look out for a copy of the Payne book at a reasonable price.

| That listing is for sale in the UK only , Vince lives in the USA . The Child book is basically only the Zulu War , the Payne book on Harford is more of his life covering several years . 90th
