Here in St Margarets in Twickenham plans were submitted in 1896 to build five villas named 1-5 Isandula Villas in Crown Road Twickenham. I can find no local association as to why the name was used. It is a longshot but I was hoping someone with in depth knowledge may be able to associate a military person with the area? The architects name on the plan is Thomas Henry Smith who lived at 72 Crown Road. Estimated birth year: abt 1873

I have no doubt the 'data base' fundies will have a field day on this Roger but purely from memory, the Durnford family had roots in Twickenham and much after the 1800's large parts of the move ZULU were made in St Margarets studio in Twickenham. The interior shots of the hospital and storeroom were shot there. Other than that no idea.

Further to Frank's suggestion regarding the Durnfords, AW Durnford's widow was buried in nearby Teddington cemetery (photo of her grave at the following link):
