Thomas McCulloch was born at Jarrow, in the county of Durham at the end of 1856. He was a Labourer on enlistment and his father, William was listed as his next of kin. Thomas served from 25th May 1876 to 14th May 1888. He was to receive the Zulu medal for services between 19th February 1879 and 26th September 1881. Then re enlisted with the Cameron Highlanders with a new service number: 328 for the Egypt campaign and was to earn a no bar Egypt medal for services between 19th August 1882 and 18th December 1882.

Papers and parchment confirm number change and all of the above.

Thomas was discharged at Inverness on 24th May 1888 and his intended residential address was 28 Alma Street, West Hartlepool.
