"RORKES DRIFT RELIEF. ONE OF THE RESCUERS FOUND AT CARDIFF. A Rorke's Drift hero has been discovered in Cardiff in the person of George Niblett, of 2, Frederick Street who Joined the Army at seventeen and was sent out to the Kafir War with the South Wales Borderers. In 1879 he and his Regiment were in the Zulu War and on January 22nd of that year the British held Rorke 's Drift against tremendous odds. Mr. Niblett who was one of the rescuing force, said that in order to reach the Drift they had marched without food for 24 hours. Mr. Niblett made an attempt to join the Army during the late war."
