| I assumed the same but Evan Jones is buried in Eddw Vale. This E. Llew. Jones is buried in Penygraig which is near Tonypandy, a fair few mills from Ebbw Vale.
Still on the subject of Evan Jones, Ebbw Vale, I recently seen a newspaper article from when he was rejoining the colours in WW1, and praising his longevity of service. In it he states that he also has a brother who completed 23 years service, but does not give the regiment. I was wondering if you or anyone else had seen that article.
Julian has mentioned in the past that one of the four Rorkes Drift defenders taken off Bourne's list was a jones, parhaps if Evan Jones's brother can be tied down, it may break some ice. Assuming that he served with his brother that is, and the article is correct. I will attempt to find it again and post it here.

| Hi Kate. In relation to E. Llew. Jones, I have found another article about the funeral where he receives a wreath from the Somerset Light Infantry, if that helps. |

I do not know if you noticed the above, apparently E Llew Jones was Somerset Light Infantry. For your records.

| Good morning Eddie I've had look at the 1/13th medal rolls for you. There are 7 Jones's (6 privates and 1 corporal) but none have the initial of E. There is a Private 36/1773 L Jones SAGS no clasp. I've noticed in the rolls that sometimes if a person has more than one initial they will only show one of them so, clutching at straws, it could be 1773. |

That was very kind of you. There is a possibility that it could be him going by the initial "L".
Thank you |

| Rai you have found the details of Evan L Jones who was mentioned as dying in the Rhondda Leader article above, but I wonder where was he during the war? This is not Evan Jones 1428 (Patrick Cosgrove) RD defender, as he lived on to serve in WWI.
You list a E Jones 2/24th No 1595, I assume this Evan and the Evan Jones mentioned in the article were probably out with Lord Chelmsford's column. |
