John Stocks / Stokes AZW Abu Klea ?

I have found two J Stokes and one W Stocks in the medal rolls. As he claims to have been at Abu Klea I have also looked at 1885 Camel Corp listings.

1/ Private J Stokes 1067 80th Regiment 1878 No medal deserted. A Company Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment in the Camel Corp was made up of elements of 1st Battalion the Staffordhsire Regiment (80th)
2/ Private J Stokes 65B/2317 94th Regiment 1879 clasp. D Company Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment had elements of 2nd Battalion Connaught Rangers (94th) with in it.
3/ Private W Socks 1079 99th Regiment 1879

As 1067 deserted I would say this man is 65B/2317 John Stocks and Duttons has listed him as Stokes

I don’t have a copy but a good cross-reference would be J. V. Webb’s book Abu Klea Medal Rolls to Which Are Added the Rolls of the Remaining Camel Corps Detachments and of the "Odd Men" Who Served in the Nile Expedition 1884-5 and At Suakin in 1885.

Thanks John. I didn't know that existed.
I'd like a copy though I can only find one for sale at the moment on Abe and its in America.
Will keep my eyes peeled now I know it exists.

Hi All,
No Military, but probably died June Qtr 1942 aged 82 in Fylde District [includes Fleetwood].
