Private Horatio Nelson Pitt 2/4th Regiment?

Odd one this. There is a Private 11/2634 F Pitt 2/4th Regiment.
However in the article it says he joined the 1st Battalion who weren't in SA.
Serving two years in SA is also wrong as the 2/4th only served for one year arriving in January 1879 but what is right is that he says in 1880 he went to India.
The 2/4th left SA for Bombay on the 8th February 1880 scratch

Horatio N Pitt born circa 1864, St Leonards, Shoreditch London, enlisted 25 March 1878, age 14, Musician, No.1304, 11th Brigade. papers Royal Lancs Regt No.2654, [ F Pitt No.2634 on 2/4th Roll 1879 Bar Medal]. T S Africa 10 Dec 1878, Arrived Natal 17 Jan 1879, to India 29 Feb1880, discharged 19 May 1890 12 yrs, he is not listed on his papers for Zulu Campaign or any Medal.
1891 census Holdenhurst Hants Professor of Music, 1901 census he is a Agri Labourer [some comedown] married to Louisa, 1901 Bourne Lincolnshire, 1st Wife Mary Ann Foster, 1911 census Oakham Rutland married 2nd wife Louisa Smart. He dies in 1953 in Newark District.
