| There is an interesting quote by the author also, from what sauce, who knows. And that is: He was still alive and fighting When lord Chelmsford's rescuing party arrived. Obviously not primary source and written much later, but it implies that the Zulus were still in full attack mode when the column arrived. |

| Hi Eddie The Zulu's certainly weren't in full attack mode when Chelmsford arrived back at Isandlwana ( if you mean there ? ) they were withdrawing back over the Inyoni Ridge ! , and if you mean on the way to RD , or once arriving there ...the same deal , another zulu force passed Chelmsford as he was making his way to RD early morning Jan 23rd , the Zulu's had already ceased their attacks at RD about 4am ? , so nothing to suggest the zulu being in full attack mode at Isandlwana on the arrival of Chelmsford ? , and certainly not as he was making his way to RD . 90th . |

| 90th, no
The article mentions Rorke's Drift, that's what I was referring to. |

| 90th, no! I was refering to Rorke's Drift. In the article it says in relation to Hitch, "he was still alive and fighting when Lord Chelmsfords rescuing party arrived"
I wasn't implying myself that I thought the Zulus were in full fighting mode, I was indicating that the article implies it. |

| As for Pte. Ezra Smith V.C., well, there was no such animal. It's almost disrespectful of the newspaper to invent a name for the real soldier, whoever he was. |
