Colonel John Scott Cape Town Highlanders

I have started a new thread for this chap because of the photogarph content and so that Cape Town Highlanders is easily searchable
Looking at his medals I would say he wasn't there as neither of them look like the SAGS as I can't see any stripes.
However there is a Private 674 J Scott 1879 clasp and a Sergeant 1588 J Scott 1877-78 clasp in the 90th
There is no Scott being shown as wounded in the 90th in Tavender's

John Scott attested 5 May 1862 Aberdeen born circa 1844 Bores Inverness age 18, to Scot Fus Gds 6 May 1862 promoted Sgt 1 july 1868 transferred as Sgt to 90th No.1588, 31 Dec 1869. To Cape 11 Jan 1878, Unfit for active service at Cape Town 9 Feb 78 to 7 Dec 78, at Utrecht 15 May 1879, discharged at Cape Town 6 May 1881 served Gaika 78 and Zulu War. Married Ellen Sophia Widdicombe St Margaret's Westminster, 13 March 1869.

Hi Again,
Also found Dorothea Ellen Scott died 188? daughter of John and Ellen, and Ethelridge Widdicombe Scott 1890-91 both buried Claremont Cemetery Cape Town. I think these are both daughters of John Scott.
