Hi All,
Richard James Kelly attested 6 Jan 1870 age 20, born 1849/50 Sheerness Kent, he was baptised 27 Feb 1850 at the Holy Trinity Minster Sheppey, Kent. to 99th No.1827, 8 jan 1870, went AWOL 5 times between 1870 and 1875 only for one or two days at a time, to S Africa 4 Dec 1878, promoted Corporal 18 june 1879, to Bermuda 29 dec 1879 sailing on the HMTS Himalaya 31 Dec 1879, then S Africa, India, UK, Discharged 25 March 1890. 2nd Wilts Regt No.403.
Married Adelaide Louisa Morris, March Qtr 1898 in Sheppey District, 1901 census 19 Castle St, Queensborough, Sheppey, he is a Army Pensioner M to Louisa, 2 children. Richard was buried on 9 Nov 1912 in Sheppey Cemetery, Sheerness, Kent Sec J Row J Grave 75. He appears on the findagrave website but there is no photograph.
