Colour Sergent John Pardon, Royal Marine Light Infantry, was a 36 year old senior N.C.O. of the Royal Marines who served in the detachment to the Naval Brigade from HMS Tenedos during the Zulu War. He served ashore from 1 January 1879 to 13 May 1879. He received his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1875 and his South Africa Medal with "1879" clasp in September 1881. Pardon died in at Portsmouth in August 1919 and is buried at Kingston Cemetery.
