| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Bolton Evening News - Saturday 13 March 1915 1879 clasp [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Haslingden Gazette - Saturday 13 March 1915 In this second article it talks of him being in the 88th Regiment. There is a Private 1481 J Stanton 1879 clasp but W Stanton is in the 94th. Any Little Big Horn experts on here can confirm/deny this story? |

| Hi Kate I'm fairly certain Buffalo Bill wasn't with Custer when he and his command were massacred June 25th 1876 , had a quick look in ' Men With Custer ' ... Surprise , surprise , no mention of anyone named Stanton ! 90th |

| Hi All, I expect the Custer mention was a very tall story, Walter Stanton attested 30 May 1878 age 22, born Claremorris Cty Mayo, he would have been 20 in 1876 battle of the Little Big Horn????? to 26 Brig Depot No.1546, to 94th 21 feb 1879 to South Africa S.S. China 26 Feb 1879, arrived Natal 2 April 1879 to Lydenburg 21 Dec 1879, Pretoria 3 March 1881, Pinetown 12 Jan 1882, S.S. Dublin Castle 24 March 1883. Served Zulu, Sekukuni, 1st Boer Wars. To 2nd Connaught Rangers No. 385. Discharged Galway 88th Reg District 28 May 1890 22yrs. No mentioned about America in his service papers. Next of kin Mother Margaret Liverpool. Cannot find any later records. Rai Keynshamlighthorse. |

| Hi All, There was also a William Stanton in the 90th 60brig/1565, Attested 9 Aug 1877 age 24, born Galivary?? Galway 1853, original number 1106, to 90th 5 Jan 1878, to South Africa 11 Jan 1878, Eastern Frontier 9 Feb 1878, Natal 2 Sept 1878, to 18 Oct 1879, Zulu 77/78/79 Medal, discharged 8 Aug 1889, 12 yrs. Next of Kin Mother Liverpool. No later records. Rai KLH. |
