Hi All,
John Sligo enlisted 27 May 1867 No.1666 73rd Regt, to 1/13 31 Dec 1867, to S Africa 3 Dec 1874, served following places when sick, Cape Town 7 Jan 1875, Fort Napier 30 Jan 75, Durban 11 june 75, fort Napier 20 Dec 75, Newcastle 21 March 77, Pretoria 4 May 77, Standerton 27 june 78, Sekukuni Campaign 13 Sept 1878.to Devonport 1879. SA Medal forfeited for Desertion 23 May 1884. Married 8 July 1884 Phyllis Marsh she aged 18 in Treorchy Glamorgan. rejoined 3 Aug 1885 in confinement, tried imprisioned 56 days released 5 Oct 1885 as Private. Discharged Taunton 15 Nov 1890.
1881 census Barracks Devonport, 1891, 1901, 1911, 1921 census address all Curry Rivel Langport Somerset. Phyllis is on the 1921 census but by the time John Dies in 1929 he is a widow his probate going to his son Joseph.
John Sligo is buried in the Parish Church of St Andrew Curry Rivel Somerset.

Interesting the medal rolls show his number as 1660. Must be a typo.
