Hi All,
Interesting the newspaper report but misspelt the Lorelle should be Lawrell, Walter Glyn Lawrell KIA 28 Nov 1879 at Sekukuni Stronghold, was Petitioning his wife for Divorce in 1879 with the third party being The 3rd Earl of Malmesbury, with his death it must have been a relief to his wife as should would not have to go through the divorce and the stigma in Victorian London.
There Divorce Application names Mary Lawrell but, the 3rd Earl Marries Susan Hamilton daughter of John Hamilton of Fyne Court Somerset, the marriage on 1 Nov 1880. Susan would Die in 1935.
Walter Lawrell is buried in Hlotse Old Cemetery Lembe, Lesotho, South Africa, and has a Memorial in Aldershot Garrison Church.

Hi All
Walter did marry Mary Hamilton in Somerset, i think the Susan Hamilton who marries the 3rd Earl could be a sister, In Walter's 1880 probate it states granted to Mary Kingscote wife of Henry Bloomfield Kingscote [Lawrell's Widow] an estate of less then £3000, so obvoiusly she did remarry 1879/80. She was also awarded in 1880 another £1815 for when Walter purchased his commission [ with the abolishment of the purchase system the monies was re-inbused to the officers]. A final second grant of probate from Walter's Estate of £7500 went to a Lucy Allan Lawrell in 1899.
