| Might this have been A F Henderson NNH? If so, it's a pity none of us were there to hear it and to ask questions at the end!! |

| Hi All
Can it be how we interpret the wording? Is it:
In the Rev. Captain Henderson 's lecture, to be" Or:
In the Rev. ( May be a reference to a church program)
And:
"Captain Henderson 's lecture, to be given in the town hall on Tuesday next,"
" as given by one of those who escaped"
With that said I can only find this man as of now:
John Henderson Soga, 1860 - 1941 |

| Hi Julian The only Captain named Henderson who survived Isandlwana is A.F. as far as I'm aware ? , could well be a Fraud Julian , it's strange there's not one Skerrick of evidence in the Chapter on A.F. in ' Henderson Heritage '... that mentions anything about being a Reverend . 90th

| Eddie What you suggest might be so if there were some (obvious or apparent) omissions in the punctuation or wording. As it is, I think it might be stretching a point. 90th You're right - we would all surely be aware of Henderson's later 'career' if it were him. |

| Frank - you are in good company. Honorificabilitudinitatibus: Shakespeare, Love's Labour's Lost, Act V, Scene I. Uttered by the comic fool Costard. |

| Hi all
I think I'm going with our escapee. Can't find any reference to any Reverend Henderson, the article even says as given by one of those who escaped. I believe it may be an error in the printing.
Kate if you scroll down to the next paragraph, is there further mention or detail that may help? |

| Neither was he the vicar of Leamington Spa in the relevant period. That was Cecil Hook 1896 – 1906 W. Armstrong Buck 1906 – 1916 A travelling impostor posing as a vicar? Worthy of a John Buchan story! |

| Church Lads Brigade title, perhaps?
Is Crockford’s for that period available online?

| Records pre-1835 are on an on-line database. 1835-1967 are in Lambeth Palace Library which holds a sequence of historic copies of Crockford's Clerical Directory for this period and will check them to answer specific enquiries. I have not approached the library. |

| Julian,
Put in a personal approach given the present incumbent’s connection to the Zulu War.

| The present incumbent? Fra. Christopher Wilson? How is he connected to the Zulu War? |

| Julian,
Correct me if I am wrong, I believe that the present incumbent of Lambeth Palace is the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
