Were there any other little skirmishes? During the Zulu War that doe’s not get discussed in the History books. Or even closed encounters (I don’t mean of the third kind) It doe’s appear that there were patrols set out all the times. So surly one of these patrols run in to some Zulus somewhere along the line.

hi Chard1879.
There were many patrols and many skirmishes which nothing of any note happened , Patrols were sent out daily
by the 1st Column which was under seige at Etshowe . There are a few mentioned in " The Narrative of Field
Operations connected with the Zulu War of 1879 " written by the Intelligence Department . Many patrols and skirmishes
undertaken by Wood "s No 4 Column usually in the command of Redvers Buller V.C. It was a daily occurance .
The death of LT Douglas and his aide Cotter was one of these minor return trips which went awry ( They got Lost ).
And ran into a party of Zulus. Hope this helps.
cheers 90th.
