Somerset); born 3 January 1848; entered the (13th) Somersetshire Light Infantry 4 December 1866, served in the South African War 1878-79, Kaffir Campaign, in Expedition against Sekukuni, Zulu Campaign, at Engagement of Zungen Nek, in Action of Kambula and Battle of Ulundi (medal with clasp) ; retired as Lieut.-Colonel 26 October 1892.
Hi Littlehand, Where does this info come from According to Burke's Peerage the 2nd Baronet Sir Thomas Buckler Lethbridge b,1778 d.17 Oct 1849. He did not serve in the Zulu War. However you could be confused with Edward Lethbridge 90 Rgt b.1846 d.1894 who did serve in South Africa 1879. Rai Keynshamlighthorse

Thurlow was a Capt in the 1/ 13th during the Zulu War was involved in the skirmish at Zunguin Nek which is near Hlobane , this action from memory was Feb 79(?) , also as mentioned present at Kambula & Ulundi . 90th

Lt.-Col. Hugh Hovell Thurlow was born on 3 January 1848. He was the son of Reverend Charles Augustus Thurlow and Frances Margaret Lethbridge. He married Winifred Beatrice Parlby, daughter of Reverend John Hall Parlby, on 10 February 1881. He died on 24 September 1919 at age 71. He fought in the Sekukuni Expedition in 1878. He fought in the Zulu War in 1879. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Prince Albert's Somerset Light Infantry. Children of Lt.-Col. Hugh Hovell Thurlow and Winifred Beatrice Parlby Colonel Edward Guy Lethbridge Thurlow b. 6 Nov 1881, d. 25 Mar 1966 Eva Winifred Hilda Thurlow b. 18 Nov 1883, d. 22 May 1959
