A collegue has informed me that most patterns of the Pre 1881 Patrol Jacket didnt have shoulder straps . You can see this in
photos from the zulu war period and also in particular portraits of Coghill in his Patrol Jacket . Idea .

ciroferrara,

I've got a large number of photographs of infantry officers wearing patrol jackets.

Is there any particular detail you are looking for?

As an example here's one:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
2nd Lt. A.C. O'Donnell, 1st/13th Light Infantry

90th,

As you can see no shoulder straps, there were some exceptions Rifle Regiments wore a twisted cord shoulder strap on their patrol jackets pre-1881.

Tasker,

I'm going to have to disagree with you there, as the one Richie posted was an Artillery pattern patrol jacket, rather than an Infantry pattern one.

Chard,

Will do that way it can illustrate the differences.
