Lieutenant Reginald William FRANKLIN - 2/24th (2nd Warwickshire Regt.) Died, 20th February 1879. Aged 19. Son of Major-General C. Franklin, CB. (Royal Artillery). Educated at Cheltenham College.

Hi All . Some more on LT. R. W. Franklin from ' The Noble 24th by Norman Holme '
Franklin , Reginald William . Lieutenant . Born 23 /10 / 59 , the youngest son of Maj - Gen C.T.Franklin , CB , R.A. Educated at Cheltenham College , he entered Sandhurst , Feb 1878 , 2nd Lt. 11 / 5 / 78 ; Lt 23 / 1 / 79 . Died Of Dysentery at Helpmakaar 20 / 2 / 79 . Served in the Zulu War 1879 , present at the storming of Sirayo's stronhold . South Africa Medal with Clasp 1879 , issued 7 / 5 / 81 .
As you can see he was promoted to Lt the day after Isandlwana / R.D / Nyezane .

Franklin, Reginald William, son . of Colonel Charles Trigance Franklin, C.B., R.A., Sillins, Redditch, Worcestershire ; bom 23rd October, 1859. 3V—Teighmore,
Royal Military College, Sandhurst, 1878. Lieutenant, 24th Foot. 1878. Served in the Zulu War in 1879, and was present at the storming of Sirayo's Stronghold in the Bashee Valley ; on the day of the disaster at Isandlwana (22nd January) he was absent with the main body of the column under Lord Chelmsford, but subsequently caught fever from the dead bodies lying on that battlefield, and died at Helpmakaar on the 20th February. 1879.
