Hi All,
The service in Philips Park Manchester will be held at 1.30p.m. on Sunday 24th July 2011.
Message received goes:
We are currently planning a ceremony to be held on Sunday 24/07/11 at 1330 hrs at Philips Park Cemetery, Manchester to honour the return of Pte William Jones V.C. plaque being displayed once again in its rightful place.
Along with the return Pte Jones plaque, two further plaques, one each for Pte Joshua Lodge and Pte John Lyons will be also be displayed within the cemetery, opposite the war memorial.
Further to this, following on from the headstone obtained in 2007 for Pte W Jones, a headstone each for Pte Lodge and Pte Lyons will also be placed to mark their graves..
There is a major route from the main entrance of the cemetery to the War Memorial which takes approx 5 minutes and it is along this route we are planning a parade, followed by a ceremony at the site of the plaques
anyone interested in attending will be most welcome.

Just a quick message to let you know the service when extremely well. I'm not in a position to post the photo's of the event, but will do so when I get back home. I have a few problems with videoing, but has luck had it, I met up with Sgt Andy Tunnicliffe GMP who will hopefully be joining the forum. Andy will be letting us have photo's and video footage so save the day. I was also lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and was able to video the blessing of "JOHN LYONS" headstone with forum member Colin Fielding and Andy in attendance. A good day was had by all. And its good to see we hit the 500 member mark. Well done to everyone for making the forum what it is today.

SD I take it you mean their grave's. Only managed to get one photo of one of the 600.

Looks like a good day. It's great than these organisers take time to remember their hero's. Hopefully their memory will live forever. Well done to Sgt Andy Tunnicliffe for organising the event. I sure it will be remembered in Manchester for years to come. The new plaques are spectacular and no doubt a great asset to the cemetery.
