This is a really stupid question that’s been bugging me for ages. Who counted the Zulu’s at the individual battles named below?
The Battle of Isandlwana 20,000 The Battle of Rorke's Drift 4,500 The Battle of Khambula 20,000 The Battle of Gingindlovu 11,000 The Battle of Ulundi 24,000

all i can offer, is , it was the officers, and they are only educated guesses.

These are just estimations made at the time. You will often find that the numbers are always inflated as this makes better reading in the New Papers,and those in command look better. Take Isandlwana, Most of the History books state 20,000 Zulus attacked, when it was most probably 12,500.

Adendorff: "See that old man on the hill, he's counting your guns, testing your fire power with the lifes of his warriors (Film Zulu) So we know who counted the British. But who counted the Zulu. :)
