Subject: If Zulu Dawn Had Been Made In 1964 Thu Oct 20, 2011 3:09 pm
In an ideal world, Zulu Dawn would have been filmed back-to-back with Zulu in 1964, including with the necessary budget. Anyway, I was just thinking of an actor who could have played Durnford, who has the same height and appearance, and after watching a film with him around that time, before he always became associated with being Count Dracula, I came to the conclusion that Christopher Lee would have been perfect.
Just an idle thought on my part.

Chelmsford ? Personally, I think he'd be better as Col. D. Imagine that scowl and blazing eyes he sometimes showed in his more familiar role as Dracula ! Definitely would intimidate the actor playing Col. Pulliene when disagreeing with him at the Isandhlwana camp. He would dominate the screen, being a commanding figure himself, much more suited to the role than Lancaster. I've looked for a black-and-white portrait photo of him from around the early 1960s with a moustache that would give a more clearer idea of how he would have looked, when compared to the famous Durnford portrait photo.

Well, if it had been, at least the films would have been in the right order. And you never know, depending on who made and directed the film, maybe, just maybe, they might have got the correct regiment (2/WR), then of course the follow up film 'Zulu' would have had to keep it the same wouldn't they, and hey presto, end of myth before it started.
Yes, Lenny would be great wouldn't he. Can you just imagine him saying; "KATANGA MY FRIENDS KATANGA" :lol!:

Yes, it would have been better them being filmed and shown in the right order. I still can't watch Zulu one night and Zulu Dawn the next night, even though it should be straightforward enough to enjoy both anyway.
