The most senior Zulu Regiment

Of all the Zulu regiments, which was the most senior in rank.

Not sure the zulu army had a most senior regiment by rank , but it's widely accepted that the iNgobamakhosi was Cetswayo's favourite , as he either formed it or was a member .

inGobamakhosi. I think the meaning of this regiment say's it all "“Bender of Kings"

Many of the regiments were based on age (uVe for example being youth) and whether or not a man was married. The regiments with the older, married men would obviously have had a higher status. Marriage was an important institution in Zulu culture in becoming a man.

Thanks for this LH. Very good detailed over-view of the various regiments. Was there a Royal Guard deadicated to the protection of the King.
