"SURGEON-MAJOR C. J. L. BUSHE, M.B., has retired from the service with a gratuity. His commissions were dated: Assistant-Surgeon, March 30th, 1872;Surgeon, March 1st, 1873; and Surgeon-Major, March 30th, 1884. He served during the latter part of the Zulu war, in 1879, with Colonel Baker Russell's column, and received the medal with clasp granted for the campaign".
