I was thinking the same thing. Could he have been laying down, possibly the recoil threw his arm back beside him ?

Imagine holding a gun in your hand pointing at your FOREHEAD, while laying on a bed. It can only be done in two ways. 1 the correct way of holding a gun using index finger to pull the trigger, 2 holding the gun and using the thumb to pull the trigger. Eitherway after its been fired, Would your hand not be force away from target area! Perhaps Neil could help.
