| hi all. If anyone is interested this is a must have book , and the cheapest copy I have ever seen. It is a heavy book so I dont know how much postage in the uk will be , I see its 25 quid to Aust.

All the battles , from the most famous R.Drift and Isandlwana , to the lesser known such as Gingindlovu and Hlobane , are given the " Then and now " treatment , bringing to life what might appear at first glance to be just the dusty pages of history. Many graphic eye - witness accounts from both zulu warriors and British Redcoats convey exactly what it was like to give battle in the 1870"s , when many of the clashes were nightmarish hand - to - hand struggles between the assagai and bayonet . Additional chapters cover what remains to be seen today, both on the battlefields and in museums , the lonely and sometimes unmarked and forgotten graves of their participants , the British Forts and their ruins , plus accounts of those film productions that have since been made of the 1879 war .
