| Extract from the Natal Witness 18th Janaury 1879 "Corporal Mayor NNC stabbed in the thigh with an Assegai"
Not sure if this fact is in any previous posts in this thread as there is a lot to read. I saw in the first post that he was stabbed in the left leg. This narrows it down a bit as to where in the leg it was.

| Certainly the left leg , a very detailed account of the wound is on page 13 ' Surgical Experiences In The Zulu And Transvaal Wars, 1879 And 1881by Dugald Blair Brown , Mayor was extremely lucky on a couple of points regarding his wound , and that he made a complete recovery , finally leaving Helpmekaar on Feb 15th for the Base Hospital , Jesse later became a member of Buller's Horse ( FLH ) serving on Reconnaissances and taking part in the Battle of Ulundi , a lucky man ! . 90th |
