| Open Request - - Is there any one map of the Isandlwana battlefield showing all landmark mountains and heights scouted and skirmished in by Chelmsford's forces - - -Qwabe, Hlazakazi, Malakatha, Magogo, Ndutshana, Phindo, etc? I would like to get a better comfort level of location name and distance as I continue my study of the battle. I visited Isandlwana last August but was viewing my photos recently which raised my question: when looking East at the Conical Hill from on top of the Spur, across the plain there are 2 "hills" on the right of Amatutshana and 2 elongated heights running south-to-north on the left - - - just would like to put a name to these landmarks and all others. Thanks in advance for any assistance, Larry

| In my experience there is no single map (contemporary or modern) which shows all those locations by name. The modern survey map of the area shows the topography very accurately but does not name names. The following version, based on Google Earth, is an attempt to pull various maps together. Those who know the ground may want to suggest adjustments but it is about right I think. Heights and distances can be calculated by going to Google Earth. Beware that some authors call the same locations by different names. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Steve |

| Hi Brillo If I'm following your directions properly looking East from the Spur the two heights on the Left are Isiphezi which is furtherest left ( Zulu Dawn was filmed there ) and then to its right is Silhutshana and Magogo to the right of Silhutshana . hopefully I understood your question ? Cheers 90th |

| My Photobucket library still seems OK but it will not let me post images on third party sites anymore without paying an exorbitant fee. Now using imgur.
