Date of Birth - 8th June 1856 at Hong Kong. 2nd Lieutenant, Leicestershire Militia 1st May 1877; to 24th Foot 14th September 1878; Lieutenant 23rd January 1879; Captain (1st Battalion) 5th January 1884; Major 9th June 1893; Lieutenant Colonel 29th November 1903; Brigadier General, Retired Pay 29th November 1907. Adjutant, West Yorkshire Volunteer Engineers 15th April 1885 - 13th April 1891. Commanded 2nd Battalion South Wales Borderers 29th November 1903 - 29th November 1907. Served in South Africa 12th November 1878 - 12th January 1880 (WO76/233), including the Zulu War 1879, with the personal escort to Lord Chelmsford at Ulundi. Served in South Africa 22nd February 1904 - 20th May 1904. South Africa Medal with Clasp 1879; Delhi Durbar Medal 1903.
