PostSubject: Lt.-Colonel A. Harness, Commanding "N" Battery, Royal Artillery   Lt.-Colonel A. Harness, Commanding "N" Battery, Royal Artillery EmptySun Aug 27, 2017 6:49 pm

Lt.-Colonel Arthur Harness was out with Chelmsford on that fateful day at Isandlwana.  Here is a transcript of a memo he wrote later on:

P. Maritzburg, Natal
Sept. 20, 1879

I certify that the unusual amount shewn as credit in this pay list is due to the Battery
having been on Active Service in the field during the Quarter, and the men not
having therefore been paid regularly.

A. Harness
Lt-Colonel
Commanding "N' Battery
R. Artillery                                          (Isandula Collection)
