| This atmospheric photograph is from an era before the AZW but I think it is stupendous. It shows troops in the Long Valley at Aldershot in 1858. On the far ridge Queen Victoria and a host of spectators are watching events, accompanied I think by two troops of cavalry. I count six battalions lined up in the valley with three troops of artillery. The closest battalion look like Rifles and seem little changed from Napoleonic times (a la Sharpe). Who knows, there may be a number of later AZW senior officers here. Very early for such a photo, perhaps many had just returned from the Crimea.
