| Having frantically trawled the internet......and this is the most spurious of connections......and it must be worth a 'point'......just for the complexity.....
Napier's brother (Robert) was the commander of the Abyssinian Expedition and Lord C was his deputy Adjutant General......Six degrees of separation and all that......
By the way, I never knew Wolseley lost an eye in the Crimea......nothing to do with this but I found it whilst searching....

| There’s another brotherly link between his brother Charles and his conquest of Scinde (“Peccavi” - I have sinned.) and Henry Bartle Edward Frere.

| Good guesses by you both SRB1965 and John Young, you both have good links in away but not the one I am looking for. I did not know there were going to so many other links (should have researched better) lol Please keep trying, clues to follow if needed later. |

| A brother, dunno which one (there seems a lot of Napier's flying around) was Governor of Natal, he expelled (or caused the migration of) the Boers in 1830 something......a direct cause of the yahoo with the Zulus......
Another point .....maybe....? |

| Ah ha got it......Harry Smith served in the 'Light Bobs'.......as did 'the' or 'a' Napier (or in fact most of them)......Harry and Mrs Smith...had a pad (Ladysmith) now in Zululand (?) - which was where the Zulu war happened.....
Game set and match - Sime or at least a point?
Cheers

| I give in......Napier's brother (George) was Governor of the Cape.......a town called Napier is somewhere there.....but no where near Newcastle.
OK lets go with this....William Napier is buried in the same cemetery as Henry Bessemer (who devised a new method of steel making) - in Newcastle SA - there is a steel works.....
Other than that I surrender......
