Colonel W. H. Thompson served with the King's Dragoon Guards in the Zulu war of 1879 in the squadron under Major Marter, including the cavalry affair at Erzungayau (Medal with Clasp).

W.H.Thompson was a Capt in the 1st KDG'S during the AZW . Served under Mag Marter from 1st June - 26th July 79 . Present at Erzangayan . 90th
