"Brigade Surgeon E. J. Boulton served in the Royal Navy during the operations in the Baltic in 1835 (Medal). Served in the Zulu war o£ 1879, and was present in the engagement at Gingindhlovu, and at the relief of Ekowe (Medal with Clasp). "

E.J.Boulton is only listed as a Surgeon - Major in Mack & Shad . Interestingly he was in the RN in the Baltic , not listed on any of the Naval Ships Rolls in Forsyth's Medal Rolls .

"DEATH.
BOULTON.-At 109, Queen's Gate, Kensington, on March 13, 1910, Honorary Brigade-Surgeon Edward Joseph Boulton, retired, Army Medical Department, aged 75.He entered the Army on January 19, 1860; served on the Staff, and in the West India Regiment, Royal Artillery, and Army Medical Department. He became Surgeon on March 1, 1873, Surgeon-Major, April 1, 1875, and retired with the honorary rank of Brigade-Surgeon on April 14, 1886. His war service was : Russian War,1855; Expedition to the Baltic; served in Royal Navy as Acting-Assistant-Surgeon.
Medal South African War, 1879; Zulu Campaign; Battle of Ginginhlovo and Relief of Etshowe. Medal with clasp
."
