| The War Office 'Narrative of the Field Operations Connected With the Zulu War of 1879' (p167) reports that between 11th January and 15th October 1879, "17 officers and 330 men died of disease consequent on the operations in Zululand". Their names have never been listed in one place. I have tried to remedy, as best as possible, this deficiency. To this end I've prepared an Excel spreadsheet of all the death data I have been able to glean, and would like to share it for comments. Is there anywhere on here that is suitable? I'm aware there's a 'publications' section but this has only one item in it. The eagle-eyed will note that the list contains significantly more than 347 names - another example of the official history being incorrect! Your thoughts will be appreciated.

| Lee Bill Sherriff probably has the information you are seeking. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] based on the regimental pay & muster rolls. |

| All lower case in email address :)
The muster lists I have 1848-1888/9 concern just the 24th Regt. I do have some info on other South African based Regiments but generally only for the details of attached 24th. Plus casualty lists WO 25/3368 & 3474 oviously. |
