Trooper G Hennessey (301) Frontier Light Horse

I came across Trooper G Hennessey in Cam Smith's book and wondered if anyone had a bit more info on this individual. I only ask as we share the same surname with the same unusual spelling.

Looking at Cams book again it has a date of discharge from the FLH. Is there a way I can see if or when He was awarded a south africa medal? Thank you again in advance.

If he applied for his medal they were issued to those in South Africa after 1881.

Patricia D’Arcy’s book shows Hennessy’s date of enrolment as 13th December 1878, and his discharge as 15th June 1879. He would have been entitled to the bar 1879 for service against the Zulu.

Checking the Forsyth Roll it seems Hennessey's medal wasn't returned to Woolwich , the only way to find the date he applied would be a trip to the Archives inn Sth Africa , I know Cam Simpson has found many applications from those seeking their Medals from the Zulu War , would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack , if you came across them well and good , otherwise who knows ! .
