With the impending possibility of the coronation of a Zulu King - further legal objections not withstanding - I decided to revisit Theophilus Shepstone’s
coronation of King Cetshwayo kaMpande on 1st September 1873.

(John Young Collection.)
Standing behind King Cetshwayo kaMpande in the diced forage cap is Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Milles, 75th
(Stirlingshire) Regiment. Standing behind the seated figure of Theophilus Shepstone wearing the bicorn hat is Major Anthony William Durnford, Royal Engineers.
