"DANIEL COMES LATE TO JUDGMENT. Daniel Williams (63) labourer. 24. Holland terrace. Acton. was charged on a warrant issued at Bromley on Christmas Eve. 1914, with stealing a gun value 10s the property of Oswald Vinson. on December 16th 1914. From the evidence of the prosecution it anppeared that the prisoner was accosted , in the highway at Sidcup by Acting P.S. Bradley whilst carrying the gun home on December 16th, 1914.
He stated he was taking it home to clean. Next morning he was charged at Bromley with being in unlawful poseeesion of the weapon. and was remanded for a week. He failed to surrender to his bail on December 24th. • On Tuesday Det. Serg Kerry saw him at Acton police-station. and the present charge was preferred. Prisoner said he saw some boys playing with the gun in the road. He took it away and intended to hand it in to the police-station, next morning. Det -Sergt. Kerry said prisoner was arrested at Acton on another charge which was not proven. That explained his arrest connection with the present charge.
Williams. who had borne a good character since 1914 had fought in the Zulu war and in Bechuanaland was discharged. "
