Hi All,
Difficult one this with no connections to Essex.
Henry Humphries, enlisted 20 Aug 1877 age 21, born Winkfield Berkshire 1856, to Royal Engineers No.14384, to Cape 29 May 1879 to 30 Dec 1879, Zulu, and Egypt 82, discharged Chatham 19 Aug 1889 12 yrs.
John Humphries, [No relation to above] enlisted 25 Oct 1877, age 23 born Wigan Lancs, 1854. To Royal Engineers No.14583, to Cape 2 Dec 1878 to April 1882, Zulu at Inyezane and Eshowe, 1st Boer War at Siege of Pretoria. Discharged Chatham 2 July 1885 8 yrs.
Richard Humphries enlisted 22 Jan 1877 age 19 Born Liverpool 1858. Ex 2nd Lancs Militia to 25/1084 2/24th to Cape 1 Feb 1878 to Jan 1880. Discharged Brecon 18 Jan 1889 12 yrs.
