There are two Baker's in Duttons under the AHC. Interestingly 3148 G Baker is shown KIA (at iSandlwana) whereas 3769 H Baker is not both have the 1879 clasp.

Kate,
Have you looked in Lee Stevenson’s The Rorke’s Drift Doctor? Lee includes a roll of A.H.C. members towards the back of the book.
Sorry still can’t get to my books.

Just looking at the iSandlwana casualty list in the Red Book it just says Private Baker and yet in England's Sons it states it was 3148 George Baker and in Tavender's listings it is shown as G. Baker. Julian can I ask were you got this information from that it was George?

A long shot but N/T of a Baker in Dugald Blair Brown's book on surgical experiences. Frank, Julian or Andy, do you have the Rorke's Drift Doctor Book? It may have the first name of H Baker

Kate,
Why not ask Lee, himself? He is on the forum.
Just a thought.

Lee very kindly got back in touch and sent the following -
Hi Kate It is 3769 Private George Baker. The medal roll incorrectly has him as H Baker. He is listed in the Egypt medal roll and LSGC roll as George I haven't found his service papers, but have this, (from that damned elusive book!!) Date of enlistment as 12-6-1878. Posted to Natal aboard the Euphrates 29-5-1879 From Natal 1-4-1880. Yep two of them -the KIA one was 3148 George Baker - enlisted Lambeth 1875 and had been a shoemaker apparently.
