Cardiff Times and South Wales Weekly News, Saturday 3 February 1900.

The funeral of Bandsman James Sullivan of the Monmouthshire Volunteer Artillery took place on Saturday afternoon at the cemetery Newport. The coffin was borne on a gun carriage and draped with Union Jack.
The members of the deceased Corps furnished the Firing Party, and the Cortege was preceded by the Batteries band. The 2nd and 4th Volunteer battalions, South Wales Borderers and the Mountain Mule Battery, RA were presented in the military procession.
The deceased who was landlord of the Globe Inn, Llanarth street, served for many years in the 94th Regiment and fought in the Zulu war. He was one of the survivors of Majnba Hill disaster.

Yes 1548 Corporal James Sullivan, 94th Regiment, did take part in the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879.

As a Bandsman would he have been in camp at Isandlwana and escaped? Or would he have been with Chelmsford's column?

The 94th Regiment were in Aldershot on 22nd January 1879.  They were part of the reinforcement sent out to South Africa after iSandlwana.
