I can only find a 2263 J Blackwell in the 99th Regiment Rolls

Hi All,
WHC Blackwell was probably born 1859/1861 at Dursley Gloucs, both the 1901 and 1911 census give him living in Lydney then Coleford Gloucs married to Elizabeth. Nothing Military.
John Blackwell 38/2263 99th, enlisted 9 march 1878 age 18 born 1860 Reading Berkshire, to 24thB/1284 to 99th 4 Dec 1878 and left for South Africa on the same day, to UK 29 Dec 1879, Gunshot wound to left forearm self inflicted at Peshawer 23 Feb 1886, recommended for discharge, on the report is, under the influence of drink, final discharge at Netley 27 July 1886. Don't find any later records for him.
