Hi All,
Joseph Wardle, attested 11 Nov 1868 age 19, born 1839/40 Rokely, Greatebridge, Yorkshire. to 2/4th No.886, Married Mary Aker 7 Oct 1867 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to South Africa 13 Dec 1878, arrived Natal 17 Jan 1879, zulu war to india 7 feb 1880, discharged 15 March 1890 served 31 yrs. 1891 and 1901 census, 46 Hartley st, Ulverston M to Mary 7 children, sons Robert served Lancs Regt, and Joseph served Royal Artillery. He is Iron Works Labourer then weigher in Iron Works and Army Pensioner. His probate gives the same address, with him dying on 17 July 1913 he is buried in St Mary with Holy Trinity Churchyard Ulverston Yorkshire, a photograph appears on the findagrave website.
