N/t trace of an Hancock in the medal rolls. Of course the 'last Zulu war' could be the 1888 or 1906 disturbances

There was a Private W. H. Hancock in the 58th (Rutlandshire) Regiment.

Hi All,
William Henry Hancock born Mevagissey Cornwall circa 1859. Enlisted 34 Brigade 1877, to 58 Regt 19 Feb 1879 as a volunteer, served Zulu War, Discharged Netley 16 March 1880. WW! papers William Henry Hancock b. Mevagissey, 1859 Pvt RAVet Corps No.5764 enlisted 3 april 1915 served one month in France to Hospital and discharge 6 Aug 1915 unfit, also mentions previous service in South Africa, Died 1938 in St Austell District Cornwall.

That’s interesting. There’s a fair chance I’m distantly related to him as my family origins are only a few miles away to the north of St.Austell. I’ll have to do some more family tree research to try to find if there is a connection.
