George Herbert Davies Colonial Volunteer?

No mention of a Regiment or travelling out with the army. Could he have gone out as a private individual and joined one of the Colonial Units?

Hi All,
George Herbert Davies, died 16 Sept 1916, he is on the eGGSA Library Gravestones in South Africa, West Street Cemetery Durban, Kwa Zulu Natal.

Good evening. George Herbert Davies was my great grandfather. He is buried in the old West Str. cemetery in Durban. In reply to your question. I know nothing about him serving in the Anglo Boer War. He was a Forestry Officer and then a farmer in the Ixopo district, KZN.

The article states he may have taken part in the Zulu war, not the Anglo Boer war.
