Newspaper article about a doctor carrying out an autopsy on a child that died in barracks, having determined the child died of Dysentry from soiled pipes, finding worms in the pipes.
Stating:
He had never knew a case terminate fatally so rapidly, even in South Africa. When asked by a juror what was the state of the water at the barracks, Mr Batho said he inquired and found that the pipes supplying Whitley's quarters had been disused till lately, and consequently very foul.

South Wales Daily News Friday, August 22, 1879.

Did Dr Batho or Whitley serve in the Zulu war?
