Hello, Would anyone know of a source of information for Private 1051 George McKay, 1st King’s Dragoon Guards? He’s present on the 1871 census, on the medal roll for the Zulu War, and in the Chelsea discharge records as being discharged 28 December, 1882 as a Corporal. I haven’t been able to find anything else about him through the usual military/genealogy and newspaper sites. Thanks, Lee

Hi Lee Thanks for the pm To save me trawling through FMP where does the 1871 census say he is living? Will help to narrow down the search. Also have you tried searching by spelling the surname Mackay or Makay. I will see what I can find out. Kate

Kate, It’s the British Army Worldwide Index of 1871. I suppose I shouldn’t have said census. And the KDG are in Newbridge, Ireland. Thanks Lee
