The Zulu War Diary of Lieutenant Wilfred Heaton, 24th Regiment of Foot, 1879 ·

I have been looking for any information on this chap. Lieutenant Wilfred Heaton. There is a book published with reference to his Diary. But Is there any other information available? (Photo) (Grave) Promotions) Regiments.
And is anyone lucky enough to have the Book. The Zulu War Diary of Lieutenant Wilfred Heaton, 24th Regiment of Foot, 1879 ·

Lieutenant W Heaton served with the Battalion throughout the war, was present at the Battle of Ulundi.

Date of Birth - 7th June 1854 at Llangedyn, Llangollen, Denbighshire.
Ensign, Royal Carnarvon Rifles 12th November 1873; Resigned 12th January 1874.
Sub-Lieutenant, 24th Foot 28th February 1874;
Captain 4th September 1880;
Major 28th November 1885;
Lieutenant Colonel Half Pay 30th September 1896.
Mentioned in Despatches 1879. Served in South Africa 9th December 1874 - 2nd October 1879, including the Kaffir War 1877-78 and the Zulu War 1879, present at Ulundi.
Served in Burma with 2nd South Wales Borderers.
South Africa Medal with Clasp 1877-8-9; India General Service Medal 1854 with Clasps Burma 1885-87, Burma 1887-89

It is indeed a good read I have the book , well worth reading to get an idea of what it was like being there at the time .

Ankle generally OK thanks, but I fear my Olympics hopes may be dashed for ever ! The Museum was very sympathetic and made me come into work despite the plaster cast !!!! Still, things were worse at Isandlwana !
