Defenders accounts the morning after Rorkes Drift Empty
PostSubject: Defenders accounts the morning after Rorkes Drift   Defenders accounts the morning after Rorkes Drift EmptyThu Apr 16, 2009 11:32 pm

Where can I find details on the aftermath of Rorkes Drift describing the scene. I have read an account by Hook, but there must be more. I have heard of an account when a Zulu that had been hiding among the dead got up, fired his musket at the British, and then made off on foot, and got away. There were quite a few survivors on the British side so there must be accounts left by individuals.
I have searched the internet, but keep coming up with the same result. Any help would be appricated.

hi old historian 2, all i can suggest is if you go to abebooks.co.uk or amazon.co.uk, or the same sights in U.S.A, you will find plenty to pick from, also the ROYAL REGIMENT OF WALES on-line shop has all the KRIS WHEATLEY books dealing with most of the defenders of RD. i have not read these, but to my knowledge there are 6-8 books dealing with those who were there. i think 8 or so men are covered in each book,i am sure she intends to cover all those present, eventually! let me know which way you decide to go, cheers 90th
